On June 5th, 2019, Dr. Ulrich KÜSTHARDT, CIO of Evonik Industries AG, and the Evonik delegation visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Prof. Kuiling DING, Executive Vice President of SJTU, received the visitors and awarded the re-appointment certificate of Guest Professor to Dr. Ulrich KÜSTHARDT.

After the meeting, the Evonik delegation visited the Student Innovation Center, Zhiyuan Innovation Research Center, Eco-Tech Innovation Center, Equipment Library, 3D Printing Center and so on. They watched robot football match, robot shooting and VR teaching at the relevant labs.

In the afternoon, students funded by Evonik PhD Funding Program also had a meeting with Evonik delegation.

Later that day, Dr. Ulrich KÜSTHARDT delivered a lecture titled “Evonik Foresight Scenario Methodology: Thinking 20-30 years ahead” and guided students in innovative thinking. After the lecture, Dr. Jing FENG, vice president of Corporate Innovation of Evonik Greater China, announced the start of the “Evonik Cup”- Shanghai Jiao Tong University Idea Contest. 

Evonik Industries AG is one of the world’s leading specialty chemicals companies, which represents appealing business and innovation strength. SJTU is the first strategic cooperative university of Evonik Industries in Asia. The two sides signed the first, the second and the third round of cooperation agreements in 2012, 2014 and 2018 respectively.
