The first SJTU SCCE Revolutionary Molecules Frontier Science Forum for Young Scholars was held on Minhang Campus, Shanghai Jiao Tong University between April 26 to 29, 2019. Seventeen young scholars from world-renowned universities and research institutions were invited. The forum focused on revolutionary molecules and discussed the hotspots, opportunities and challenges of frontier science from interdisciplinary perspective.

 
The deputy president of SJTU, Prof. Zhen Huang extended a warm welcome to young scholars from all over the world at the opening ceremony and emphasized that developing first-class faculty is essential to the construction of the first-class universities. SJTU is open to talented youngsters from all over the world and hopes the talented scholars could help build a double-first-class university together. In addition, directors from related offices of SJTU introduced the university’s overall development vision, personnel policies, postgraduate education, research condition, discipline layout and public analytical instruments.

 
Prof. Jinping Jia, party secretary of SCCE, delivered a welcome speech to young scholars and introduced that molecules and related materials are the foundation of the physical world, which involves many disciplines such as chemistry, chemical engineering, medicine, biology, energy, materials, etc. The revolution of molecules promotes the development of human society as well as the development of science, which leads to technical improvement that alters the progress of human civilization. The purpose of the forum was to provide a platform for researchers to communicate and present frontier science, learn more about SJTU, offer suggestions and work together to push forward the revolutionary molecules research and the science development of China.

 
The academician of CAS and dean of SCCE, Prof. Yongqiang Tu made an introduction to the history evolution, the school’s framework and the discipline construction of SCCE. He pointed out that SCCE always aims at cultivating high-quality professional talents with the educational concept of “imparting knowledge and strengthening morality education”. Prof. Yongqiang Tu welcomed young scholars to join SCCE, focused on revolutionary molecules and built SCCE to a prestigious talent cradle with unique features.

 
In the academic presentation part, seventeen young scholars were divided into four groups according to their research fields and shared their research work with audience respectively. 

 
In order to help young scholars better experience SJTU, a visit to the Instrumental Analysis Center, the Central Analytical Lab and laboratories were organized. After the visit, school leaders of SCCE answered questions raised by young scholars.
