On November 3rd, 2021, the 2020 National Science and Technology Award Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People. The project Design and construction of chiral metal-organic porous solids and their properties by Prof. Yong CUI from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award in 2020.
The winning project
Design and construction of chiral metal-organic porous solids and their properties
The project addressed the bottleneck problem of low catalytic and separation in terms of activity and selectivity, caused by the uneven dispersion of active sites in traditional chiral porous materials. It also proposed a crystallization strategy for the framework of chiral functional bodies, which achieves the precise synthesis of monodisperse porous materials with chiral sites; created a new system for chiral porous catalysis and separation, and raised the selectivity of chiral solids to a new level; clarified the important structural parameters for the identification and activation process, providing a structural model close to the real state for chiral porous catalysis and separation.
