On September 12th, 2018, the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering held the school orientation for new international students.
The class meeting was composed of six parts: About SCCE and SJTU, Study at SCCE, Life in SJTU, Residence Permit and Visa, Safety Matters Most and Q&A. In the part “About SCCE and SJTU”, students learned the history and the glory of SCCE and SJTU.
The “Study at SCCE” part explained scholarship assessment, class attendance, mid-term defense, how to ask for leave and to utilize library resources.
The “Life in SJTU” part showed sports fields, students’ associations, related departments and teachers they would touch in the future and posted football recruitment.
The “Residence Permit and Visa” part told the students what to do if passport or RP is going to expire or lost. The “Safety Matters Most” part reminded students about personal safety, property safety, information safety and laboratory safety and introduced useful phone numbers and settlements in terms of emergency.
In 2018, SCCE welcomed 13 new international students, including 11 PhD students, one master student and one undergraduate student, who came from Ethiopia, Pakistan, Malaysia, America and Greece (sorted by pinyin).
