Research Interests

Focus on designing and developing high-performance, soft and stretchable polymer semiconductors and optoelectronic devices as well as their applications in wearable electronics and bioelectronics.

Conjugated polymer materials: Develop high-performance, flexible and stretchable semiconducting polymer and conducting polymer through chemical-engineering or chemical methods.

Novel, flexible and stretchable light-emitting "e-skin" and "e-textile": Use the designed polymer materials to construct high-performance, flexible and stretchable polymer light-emitting devices, including polymer light-emitting diode, polymer light-emitting electrochemical cell and polymer light-emitting capacitor.

Important applications: Use developed polymer-based materials and devices to solve key issues in the area of wearable electronics, bio-implantable electronics and optogenetics.


To date, Zhitao has published over 60 papers in top international journals, with a total citation of >7,000 times, and h-index of 37. In particular, Zhitao has published 25 first (include co-first) and corresponding authored papers, including 1 in Nature, 2 in Science, 1 in Nat. Photon., 1 in Nat. Rev. Mater., 2 in Nat. Commun., 1 in Natl. Sci. Rev., 2 in Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., 4 in Adv. Mater. and 2 in Adv. Energy Mater..
